Good afternoon, dear craftswomen! Today I am sharing a great idea how to sew a mitten from old jeans. These are the most convenient tacks that I have ever used. If necessary, they can be put on instantly, and they will perfectly protect the palms of the hands. They have a fairly simple design. And it is best to sew them in several layers, using a lining fabric - insulation.
Mittens pattern
First draw part templates on a piece of paper, observing the dimensions given. Cut out the part templates and transfer them to the denim. Details are best cut from the bottom of the leg. At this point, the fabric is less stretched and rubbed when worn.
For one mittens it is necessary: ??three parts for the outer part and three parts for the inner part. To seal the tack, you can additionally use the lining material. Lining parts are cut separately. Do not forget about seam allowances.
Note: Two semicircular parts for the inside should be longer. This is necessary in order to wrap and beautifully design the cutting edge of the outer part.
Let's start assembling the tack
We fold the outer parts of the denim fabric face to face, on top of them you can put the details of the lining material. We chop off the details with pins or clothespins and scribble exactly to the bend. To determine the bending point, unfold the two details of the tack, as shown in the photo below. The unfolded parts should form an oval, the same size as the third oval part.
You should get two side seams with an allowance of about 0.7 cm
If you unfold the non-stitched parts of the parts, then the oval part should coincide with them along the edge
We fix the oval part between two unbroken parts with the front side inward. If necessary, we pin on top a part made of lining material. We make lines on each part of the inner oval separately - small and large, exactly between the marks. In the photo below, these lines are indicated by red and blue dashed lines.
Well, that’s basically it! We sewed the outer part of the tack-mittens. For convenience, it was possible at the initial stage to sew the side loop for the lace. But for me, it’s better to sew a wide magnetic plate into each mitt-tack and hang them either on the stove or on the side of the refrigerator.
How to sew a mitten tack
The inside of the tack is sewn in the same way as the outside, only without insulation and the indent from the edge is made a little wider. This is necessary so that the inside fits easily into the outside.
Turn the finished external part to the front side. Leave the inside to the outside. Put the inner part on your hand and pull the outer part of the tack from above. Details should be located inside out.
If you did everything correctly, then the inside of the tack should protrude slightly
Carefully tuck the protruding interior outward, bend the edge inward and iron. Sew along the edge.
Sew a second mitt in the same way.
Comfortable and durable tacks are ready! Such cute potholders will not only be useful in the kitchen, but will certainly decorate it. They can be sewn for yourself or as a gift to a loved one.
Now you know how to sew a tack-mitt, and you can easily repeat the idea. Moreover, there will be no problems with the material, because you can sew them from old jeans. Show your imagination and decorate the potholders with unusual appliques, beautiful buttons. I apologize in advance for photos so spoiled by copyright, but the result looks like a real dandelion! Master Class: target="_blank" name="cut" rel="noopener noreferrer">
We will need: a foam ball (diameter 3 cm), a wire glued with gray paper (sold ready, in sets, in a set of 15 pieces), a satin ribbon 1 m, with a margin (width 3 cm), an adhesive gun and glue to it, a piece of felt.
We cut the ball into 2 halves, we need one, put it aside)
We take the wire and cut it into 5 parts (5 cm each), you can cut it longer if you want a larger dandelion. Then they cut it by eye, without accurate measurement.
We cut all the wires from the set.
Now it's the turn of the tape. They took the tape and began to dissolve the fringe when 2.5mm (approximately) had blossomed, cut it off with an allowance of 0.5mm tape (I hope I clearly described it). About 10 pieces were cut and spread (then, if necessary, you can cut it). We cut each section with a fringe into 4-5 parts.
We take a segment, grease it with hot glue and quickly, until the glue has frozen, as if we were twisting it onto a piece of wire. It turns out such panicles. We apply each panicle to the heated iron in the middle to make an umbrella. If there is a slightly non-symmetrical umbrella, this is good, because together they create airiness. Real dandelions are also asymmetrical!
The turn of the foam base has come. From below we glue a circle of felt. You can grease it with PVA glue a little. We take the remains of the threads from the dissolved ribbon and apply to the base, smoothing with a palm. When the threads are smoothed, we trim the remains from the edges.
Now the turn of umbrellas. We start sticking them into the base, you can drip a drop of glue on the tip. We head from the center in a circle to the edges. And that’s it!
A couple of dandelions are left to attach to the hair band or hair clip.
Great idea for a photo shoot.

In the second part I will share findings about the types of darn, for those who want to repeat this incomparable texture for themselves.
name="cut"/>
The most common look is the small handmade sashiko stitch. Sashiko means "small punches", the verb Sasu - "pierce." The stitch was used to seal the fabric and join the flaps, this gave strength and beauty. The color of the thread varies from white to dark blue.
The stitches are laid right through, they should be the same in size and passes. The basic rule is to never cross the stitches, always leave a distance at the intersections of the ornament.
The traditional needle for sashiko is quite long, about 2 inches, the width is uniform along the entire length. Twisted thread without shine. The Japanese use a special thimble made of metal or leather. It is worn in the palm of your hand right under the middle finger to push the needle through the pleated fabric.
When starting work, you need to cut the thread of such a length so that it is enough to complete a series of embroidery moving from one edge of the product to the other. Wrapping it twice around the tip of the needle, and then stretching the needle through these turns of the spiral, form a quiltusel at the end of the thread.
Then take your fabric and string it on the needle without pulling the thread. After completing an arbitrary, convenient for you number of stitches in this way, push the needle with a thimble and stretch the thread.
Pulling the thread, stretch the fabric to loosen the thread tension. Continue these operations until the end of the row, and then perform another knot, leaving some slack at the end in order to compensate for any web tension.
If your pattern requires a change of direction, then at each turn leave a small loop for the same purpose - to ease the tension.
Before starting stitches, you need to carefully review the pattern and decide on the order of actions. You need to know that usually horizontal and vertical lines are first performed (with the exception of the outer ones forming the frame), then the stitch is laid in an oblique direction and completed by the execution of the pattern frame. This procedure will save you from possible distortions.
Moving further along the broken lines from one edge to another, by analogy with what is described above, we complete the opposite corner of the whole scheme. Finally, complete the frame. It can be performed moving around the perimeter, the main thing is to ensure that the thread ends only at the corners.

Examples of patterns:
Amimon - fishing net, promises a good catch.
Yabane - arrows, symbol of a warrior.
Musubi Kikko - tortoise shell, lucky number three (triangle and hexagon) for longevity.

Kogin is the next type of embroidery that was used only on the Tsugaru peninsula located on the northern part of Honshu Island. The poorest and most frozen site in Japan. Apparently, therefore, cheap and rolled fabric was decorated with such a complex pattern. The fabric was taken indigo, and the weave was uneven to get an elongated rhombus.
Hishizashi is a kind of kogin, but the fabric was taken lighter and very often three or more thread colors were used in one embroidery. Born in Nanbu in Aomori Prefecture.

They can no longer be attributed to the truly traditional ones, but they will give an excellent texture.
To facilitate the task, you can use patches made of unbleached fabric with a cross-stitch pattern - the most common kind of darning after parallel lines.
Such a darn can strengthen the knees and elbows.
The sweater can be patched with a fabric with traditional patterns or with a darn-like texture.
Disheveled cuffs are also no reason to throw a thing.
In the third part I will make a selection of street style and designer clothes in the style of "borough".
