Good afternoon, dear craftswomen! Today I am sharing a great idea how to sew a mitten from old jeans. These are the most convenient tacks that I have ever used. If necessary, they can be put on instantly, and they will perfectly protect the palms of the hands. They have a fairly simple design. And it is best to sew them in several layers, using a lining fabric - insulation.

Mittens pattern

First draw part templates on a piece of paper, observing the dimensions given. Cut out the part templates and transfer them to the denim. Details are best cut from the bottom of the leg. At this point, the fabric is less stretched and rubbed when worn.

For one mittens it is necessary: ??three parts for the outer part and three parts for the inner part. To seal the tack, you can additionally use the lining material. Lining parts are cut separately. Do not forget about seam allowances.

Note: Two semicircular parts for the inside should be longer. This is necessary in order to wrap and beautifully design the cutting edge of the outer part.

Let's start assembling the tack

We fold the outer parts of the denim fabric face to face, on top of them you can put the details of the lining material. We chop off the details with pins or clothespins and scribble exactly to the bend. To determine the bending point, unfold the two details of the tack, as shown in the photo below. The unfolded parts should form an oval, the same size as the third oval part.

You should get two side seams with an allowance of about 0.7 cm

If you unfold the non-stitched parts of the parts, then the oval part should coincide with them along the edge

We fix the oval part between two unbroken parts with the front side inward. If necessary, we pin on top a part made of lining material. We make lines on each part of the inner oval separately - small and large, exactly between the marks. In the photo below, these lines are indicated by red and blue dashed lines.

Well, that’s basically it! We sewed the outer part of the tack-mittens. For convenience, it was possible at the initial stage to sew the side loop for the lace. But for me, it’s better to sew a wide magnetic plate into each mitt-tack and hang them either on the stove or on the side of the refrigerator.

How to sew a mitten tack

The inside of the tack is sewn in the same way as the outside, only without insulation and the indent from the edge is made a little wider. This is necessary so that the inside fits easily into the outside.

Turn the finished external part to the front side. Leave the inside to the outside. Put the inner part on your hand and pull the outer part of the tack from above. Details should be located inside out.

If you did everything correctly, then the inside of the tack should protrude slightly

Carefully tuck the protruding interior outward, bend the edge inward and iron. Sew along the edge.

Sew a second mitt in the same way.
