I have been enjoying decorating bags for a long time. And it’s most interesting to use the most unexpected objects as a decor, for example, construction washers, nuts, cogs, radio components, clockwork, springs and more.



Stages of decoration on the example of a bag "Chameleon":

This was the bag before the alteration:











1. First, I make an approximate sketch with the designation of the details that I want to beat on the updated bag.





2. I cut out the patterns, transfer them to the skin.







3. I paste the leather fragments onto the base (overlay), then I sew everything along the edge on a typewriter with a “zigzag” seam.





4. If necessary, I decorate the picture with painting, screw the gears and chains with nuts and screws. I attach, glue and sew other details.









5. First, I glue the pad on the bag, then when the glue dries, I sew it around the edge.

(From my own experience I know that it’s easier to make the whole picture separately on a leather lining, and then sew this lining to the bag.)



6. In the case of the Chameleon bag, I wanted to somehow beat the picture, and therefore a strip of yellow leather was prepared for the fringe. On the suede side, the skin was painted with a sponge in purple.





7. Along the perimeter of the overlay, I sewed the fringe with the yellow side. Then I turned the opposite ends of the fringe with the purple side and manually sewn the purple ends to the edges of the bag. An unusual gradient effect was obtained.
