More precisely, comments on this post inspired me. I started to sew a fur coat in January last year, but the plus temperature discouraged my desire to continue, so I finished it by the beginning of this winter.

I had two old sheepskin coats - orange and black. It was already useless to reanimate them, although inside the sheepskin looked suitable in places, but for something solid it was not enough. I remembered them when I bought a very inexpensive burgundy mouton coat in second-hand. I also had an old leather cloak, which was very similar in color to the burgundy mouton. It was not suitable for alteration, I completely put it on the fringe.

I made the fringe in two rows: the upper row - with a suede side; lower - leather. In the fringe movement it is very interesting to “play”.

And now from the very beginning: I tidied up all three things, chose the details that could be used. I took a pattern, laid the skins on it and figured out what kind of pattern could turn out. I drew a drawing on the pattern, cut it. Carved parts with allowances of 0.5 mm. Sewed on hands with kapron threads. Surely I did it wrong. Rather, as I was comfortable and understandable.

Sutures were felt only on the shoulders, but the shoulder pads solved this problem.

With the direction of the pile, it was not particularly steamed, because there was almost no clear direction on almost any skin. The texture and length of the pile is also different, but this has its own charm.

Only zipper was sewn in by car. So that the lightning would not catch the pile, she made a leather band.

Due to the fringe, the fur coat is certainly heavier than it could be, but I do not feel any discomfort.

To admit, the lesson was not easy. The fingers were cut with a thread, until I thought of wrapping them with electrical tape, I pierced my fingers with a needle several times. But I'm glad that I had the patience, and now I have my own crazy coat. I hope she was worth it.
