The Most Followed Fashion Brands on Instagram
Instagram is a great platform to stay in touch with your friends and followers – and many brands have embraced it. Today, the platform with more than 1 billion users (as of last September) has more than 25 million business accounts, from the highest-paid female musicians and singers to many beauty and fashion accounts. The recent changes in the way the service puts updates in front of its users, meaning that they can now interact with their favorite brands in an even more meaningful and personal fashion. Which brands, you might ask? Let’s take a look at the top five luxury fashion brands with the most followers on Instagram today.
Dolce & Gabbana (20.4m)
With 20.4 million followers, Dolce & Gabbana is the fifth most followed fashion brand on Instagram. The Italian brand founded in 1985 by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana started out with just three shops in Milano, and they only started exporting their products – to the United States and Japan at first – in 1990. Today, their products are among the most sought-after luxury apparel in the world, they have locations in all the major cities, and they set the trend for many – including Instagram users.
Dior (24.9m)
Dior has grown from an ‘haute couture’ label into a brand that covers everything from leather goods to timepieces, fragrance, and skin care products. The brand currently works with influencers like actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Cara Delevingne, has shops all over the world, and has a massive, 24.9 million Instagram following.
Victoria Beckham (25.1m)
Victoria Beckham first made it to the headlines as Posh Spice, a member of the British all-girl band Spice Girls, and later as the wife of football legend David Beckham. She built a reputation on her own, though, as a fashion designer and businesswoman as well – her brand “Victoria Beckham” has become the designer brand of the year in the UK in 2011. And it has a massive Instagram following, too.
Louis Vuitton (31.3m)
With 31.3 million followers at the time of this article, Louis Vuitton is the second most-followed fashion brand today. It is also one of the oldest – it was founded 165 years ago by the designer whose name it wears. It started out as a luggage company and evolved into a major brand selling ready-to-wear, accessories, watches, jewelry, sunglasses, and – of course – bags and luggage. It has more than 400 stores in 50 countries around the world.
Gucci (33.6m)
Gucci is one of the longer-running Italian brands, founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. It also holds the questionable honor of being one of the most counterfeited brands in the world, with 280 cases of fake Gucci products being reported in 2018 in the United States alone. While its history was not without controversies, it is still one of the most popular fashion brands today – let its massive Instagram following speak for itself.
