While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been fairly staunch in their desire to keep the identities of son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor's godparents under wraps, it appears some inkling of the truth has trickled out to the media.

Following Archie's christening on July 6, 2019, a new report from The Sunday Times claimed that one of the chosen godfathers was Charlie Van Straubenzee, one of Harry's oldest and closest friends.

Charlie and his brother, Thomas, both served as ushers on Meghan and Harry's wedding day, and the royal couple made one of their first post-marriage outings to Charlie's August 2018 wedding to wife Daisy Jenks.

The Van Straubenzee brothers are longtime friends of both Harry and his brother, Prince William, having grown up together as children, with Harry also attending Ludgrove Prep School with Charlie.

Likely candidates for the other remaining godparents include Harry and William's childhood nanny Tiggy Pettifer (née Alexandra Legge-Bourke), who was spotted at Windsor Castle on the day of the christening. Both Harry and William serve as godfathers to Tiggy's own children.

However, it's likely we will never know for sure who Archie's godparents are officially, after Buckingham Palace confirmed the identities of Meghan and Harry's chosen godparents would be kept a secret according to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wishes.
