6 Side-Braid Tutorials That Are Insanely Easy (and Pretty)

- июля 01, 2019

Side braids—no, they're not only reserved for Rapunzel celebs like Blake Lively—are super easy to execute and are a nice change from whatever style you usually wear on repeat. Need some inspo, though? I've gotchu. Ahead, six side-braid tutorials you'll want to try ASAP (or, at the very least, find insanely mesmerizing).

This Simple Side French Braid

If you're a beginner, this braid by YouTuber Missy Sue is for you. Start by parting your hair on the right side, separate out three strands of hair, and then cross the right section over the middle, repeating that same step with the left side. Before crossing the right strand over the middle again, using your pinky finger, pull in a bit more hair into the section, and then continue crossing the hair over the center section.

Repeat this sequence on the left side and keep braiding along the side of your head until you reach your ends—ultimately securing your style with a clear elastic. Make sure you have these essentials on hand before you give this side braid a try:

This Wash and Go with Three Side Braids

On freshly co-washed hair, YouTuber Franchelli evenly sections off the hair she is about to braid, then she uses the Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste to tame her hair and keep it secured in the style. Cornrow each section, secure it with an elastic, tame your baby hairs with a natural bristle toothbrush, style the rest of your hair as usual, and you're done!

This Side Braid with a Twist

Want to recreate an ethereal-looking, messy braid? Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles is serving up just that in this video. First, part your hair on the left with your fingers (so it doesn't look too perfect), and then grab a section of hair along your hairline and separate it into two pieces. Begin twisting them toward the back of your head, adding in more hair along the perimeter of your forehead.

Continue to twist your ends and keep it from unraveling with a hair tie. Sweep the rest of your remaining hair over to the right side and separate it into three sections; incorporate the twist into one of them and start to three-strand braid your hair. Secure with an elastic to finish and pull a few pieces out around your face for a more romantic feel.

This Super-Thick Side Braid

If you have fine hair, start by spraying your roots with dry shampoo for a little texture—if your hair still feels too soft to hold the braid and needs a little more grip, scoop a dollop of pomade onto your fingertips as you braid. Move all of your hair over to one side and fasten a clip-in hair extension just above the nape of your neck for thickness and length. At your hairline, begin to French braid your hair all the way to the ends.

This Sexy Side Braid

Yet another super-easy side braid by the one and only Florido (Hailey Bieber's stylist), this one can be copied by parting your hair on the left, and then Dutch braiding (when you cross the pieces under each other rather than over one another) your hair at the hairline at a diagonal (this ensures you include all of your hair as you move down along the right side of your head). Finally, when you reach the ends, use a hair tie to secure it.

This Side Rope Braid

Regardless of whether your hair is clean or a little dirty, start with some dry shampoo to add extra grip (and soak up any excess oil), and then get rid of any tangles with a paddle brush. From there, YouTuber The Freckled Fox suggests creating a deep side part on the opposite side of where you want the braid to be, before grabbing a rectangular section of hair.

Next, split that section into two and cross the front piece over the back strand. Continue the rope braid by adding more hair to the front section and then cross it over the back piece yet again. Repeat this process, always adding more hair to the front piece, until all of your hair has been braided. Secure the ends before gently tugging on the braid to make it look super thick.
