Chloë Sevigny Does Cannes Her Way – Again – In Marine Serre
Praise be to Chloë Sevigny at Cannes. From Mugler to Miu Miu and Loewe, her red-carpet, photocall and off-duty dress choices have served up brilliant curveballs to the ballgowns we’ve become accustomed to on the Croisette.

Today’s look, at the photocall of Les Realisateurs Des Courts Metrages En Competition, was no exception. Sevigny wore a black autumn/winter 2019 Marine Serre dress with billowing pink floral sleeves and gold chain detailing that was instantly recognisable owing to the brand’s crescent moon logo printed on her tights.
The actor, who travelled to France with carry-on luggage and had her wardrobe shipped, has been working with stylist Haley Wollens for the festival. “It just takes some of the stress off,” Sevigny told WWD on the opening night. “I’ve [dressed myself during my whole career] and [I’ve] finally [met] someone [who] gets me, that I can put my trust in. It’s really collaborative between us.”
She described the age of 44 as a “transitional phase” and outlined her wardrobe goals as “chic but still a bit alternative”. As one of New York’s original street stylers and Miuccia Prada’s muses, her decision to pepper her signature vintage pieces with rising design stars such Marine Serre gives the impression that Sevigny is transitioning into her mid-forties just fine.
