Celebrity Summer Hair Hacks

- мая 02, 2019

Summer hair, don’t care. Well, not exactly. While a tousled mane is completely acceptable during summer, we shouldn’t neglect haircare for the sake of beach waves. Sun, sand, salt water, and chlorine…they all do damage to our tresses. But that doesn’t mean we have to skip the fun, we gathered hacks from the pros (aka models and celebs) on how to maintain healthy hair all summer long… It may not be summer just yet, but get your hair prepared.

Sunscreen

SPF doesn’t stop at our faces, sun protection is important for hair health too. Actress Dree Hemingway mixes sunscreen and olive oil in her hair on beach days to save her from expensive treatments later. Try an SPF-infused hair mist like Fekkai Pré-Soleil Hair Radiance and Protection Mist ($16) or Phyto Phytoplage Protective Sun Veil ($30).

Skip Shampoo

Jen Aniston steers clear of shampoo and only conditions her mane. Shampoo can strip hair of its natural moisture, especially during summer when we’re already battling inevitable heat damage from the sun. For added hair care, opt for air-drying hair and wearing hats whenever in the sun. Your mane come September will thank us.

Mayonnaise

Blake Lively credits this condiment for her envious golden locks, as does Zoe Saldana. Apply to the ends of hair before shampooing, mayonnaise protects hair by preventing shampoo from stripping strands and making hair brittle. After a day at the beach, you won’t have to skip the shampoo, so slather on the mayonnaise for a wash without over-drying hair.

Coca-Cola

Fine-haired gals take note: for tousled beach waves, Suki Waterhouse swears by giving her hair a Coca-Cola rinse, which adds texture and natural waves she says.

Coconut Oil

And of course, there’s always coconut oil…celebs like Khloé Kardashian, Eva Mendes, and the Olsen twins have credited the all-purpose (and affordable) oil for keeping their hair healthy and gorgeous. Use as a hair mask once a week to nourish hair and reverse signs of damage, not to mention coconut oil is said to promote hair growth too. We’ll be sporting mermaid hair by the end of summer!
